Lima costumes, ca. 1853.

An album of watercolors and sketches, manuscript and printed material, hand colored lithographs, ephemera, and photographs, assembled by Archibald Smith. Sixty-four watercolors, unsigned, are by Pancho Fierro; the remaining images are by unidentified makers. The images mainly depict Lima costumes and customs, but also include Peruvian landscapes and studies of horses. Most images are identified by a handwritten caption and descriptive text on the preceding page. Four photographs document colonial churches in Lima; two photographs are oval studio portraits. Ephemera include eleven visiting cards, four invitations, and one paper doily printed with the name of Archibald Smith.
